If we want to deploy all of the changes from Application to View and back again with a change action, we could use the displayMessage action for each scenario. However, this would result in a single long update action (which might not be desirable), which could be turned into an updateAction containing other scripts. We might update the entire UI by updating View with a change action. It is also possible to maintain data synchronously from the view back to the model as well.

The data definition language does not include concepts like view and model. It is recommended to use XML data with some schema and a separate template view. The DataBindings are the only way to bind data from the View back to the model.

I haven’t been following Eclipse at all since the end of the CodeRage last week – so I can only recall that the concepts of view/model were discussed/presented.
You may want to look at Eclipse Part 2, which shows a multi-tier model with view/controller/model. As far as I recall, there is even a video that shows a complete example in one screen. (See )
The main thing I remember from these sessions was that the data-driven templates/views are very different from the concept of MVVM… they are created through Eclipse’s data-driven templates, specifically:

(Window/Other/View) –> “new Wizard-based View”

Code generated from the data-driven wizard used both the view and model. (Normally I’d say the wizard is going to generate the view, but it’s really the the view and the model, since you can have many views of one data model. I saw a presentation that made this even more explicit by showing a wizard that really appeared to just generate the view and leave the model behind. The prototype code added a backing bean to represent the model.)

(Window/Data Editor) –> “new Wizard-based Data Editor”

Unlike the previous wizard, this one does NOT use the view at all. The code it generated DID use the model directly, as well as the view. (Not sure what the wizard does with the model in this case
