Pristine – postclean defaults to latest

I am using pristine-lib to use the postclean in my babel. I put the code to disable the postclean in.emacs file but it seems its disabled on two completely different occasions.
Post-clean hook:

I have checked a few other posts and no answer or explanation can be found.

As post-clean-hook runs before pristine-mode and not after, it is run when pristine-mode is already active. By default, the doc explains:

Activate pristine-mode before running post-clean hooks.

To avoid this, you can force pristine-mode to be active first.
I.e. before calling run-hooks ‘post-clean-hook’ do
(pst-mode 1)

The input (red) splits into an audio signal (orange) and a bypass signal (yellow). Both signals are picked up by the microphone (green) and the orange signal goes to the output filter that is connected to the monitor. The bypass signal (yellow) goes to a parallel analog output filter. Both signals are amplified by the input amplifier and then the bypass signal is mixed with the microphone signal by the mixer. If the mixer’s audio output is connected to the monitor, the output will have a microphone-like sound and any audio played through the speakers will have a “mock” microphone-like sound coming out. If the mixer’s audio output is connected to the bypass filter, the speakers will hear only the input audio. If the mixer’s audio output is set to 0 or the monitor is not connected to any device, the input audio will be passed through to the monitor. If the monitor output is set to 0 or the monitor is not connected to any devices, the input audio will be heard on the bypass filter.

I’m trying to fit the above into M-Audio’s sample guide for setting up your interface on linux (again I’m not an expert in audio). I’ve followed the instructions in the guide (changing “ranges” to “ranges”, removing “pmon/input” and “pmon/output”) and I’m still getting some sort of noise in the audio tracks. There is also this, which I think is more related to the problem I’m having (I’ll look into that at some point I guess):
Mixer:
Sampling rate for “Built-In Microphone” is 48kHz, for “Input Range” it is 48000-16000 and for “Output Range” it is 48000-16000. Default filter frequency is set to 10.63kHz. (48000 to 1kHz)

I finally figured out what the issue was. It’s a couple things at play here.
There is an input/output Bias in the Input Amplifier option. Setting this to 0 fixed the issue. I also had to change the driver of the UA16 to ‘guitar-port’ so the USB interface would work properly (if you don’t use this you can just leave it at Analog but I’m thinking there’s an issue with that driver). I’m not sure if the two are related but it worked and it was a lot simpler than I
